They inform our "I" about the importance, value for us personally of those objects or those relations with other people, which at the moment are in the center of our attention. A person may not think about this or that event, but the arising emotional experiences - anger, joy, disgust - will tell him the true attitude to it. Or, say, we only imagine some situation that does not yet exist in reality, but emotions already evaluate it as desirable or unpleasant. Thus, emotions fulfill the function of evaluation.
