Each of us knew that we were experiencing an immensely exotic—because endlessly deferred—erotic experience, the likes of which we could never hope to match in real life. And that was precisely the point: this was sexuality as a public event, brilliantly planned and executed, yet totally unconsummated and unrealizable.
This was inspired by the infamous belly dance where the dancers would pretend they had a bee under their many veils. Audiences would watch, enthralled, as they stripped from their veils, under the guise of a poisonous creature against their skin. Perhaps an early example of modern strippers, the ingenuity and creativity of sex workers throughout time inspires me endlessly. I believe today we should reintroduce the art of mesmerising audiences, creating ethereal mystical erotic experiences, of adding magic back into our art ♥️
