I told you guys I’d share my writing too, so here’s a little poem I wrote a few years ago. Let me know what you think x
My favourite time of the year: summer
Elbows grazing
knees sweating
lips chapping
glances stealing
weed smoking summer
Summer takes your feelings, encapsulating them in a jar of gold
Your heart's winter burdens, it sticks in a mould
Younng love
Summer love
Warm love
eventually, it's gonna end love
Summer is closing your front door for the last time, shouting out good bye
It is sitting at the airport on the warmest day of the year holding your lover's hand and saying, I can't do this
but you call anyway and gulp back warm, salty tears as you tell your mother that I am not coming back, that I cannot live like this, that I need to be free
And you hang up on her and everything you know, leaving it all behind
Summer is hot and so are its memories
Lonely feeling
Never sleeping
FOMO fearing
Medicating intoxicating
"This is the life!" living summer
Summer reminds me of sweat and sadness
Summer holds so many promises that it fails to deliver on, like a deadbeat dad
Summer is a time for brief happiness followed by a long cold lonely winter
Summer breaks your heart.
It leaves you with gold tinted memories that will haunt you for the rest of your life.
Summer will leave you with longing, summer is thirst, a thirst for life, a thirst for love.
Tan lines showing
External validation receiving
Ice cream eating
Cold brew drinkingg
Sunlight shielding summer
A sweet stench hangs in the air.
Her skin smells like suntan lotion and wet grass, her t-shirt sticks to her back.
She's chewing on a piece of a gum watching the clouds roll by thinking about that time she asked him to come meeet her on her roof.
He told her he felt like he was in a movie.
She wanted to play him a song that night that would tell him exactly how she felt
but she never had the courage to do it
Summer is regret
Stories shared
Have no cares
"You going to the Pav?" fares
Shedding off layers
Run your hands through your lover's hair, summer
My tears mix in with the salty ocean water
I cannot tell the difference between nature and myself, I can taste it on my lips and feel it on my face
Once more I submerge and open my eyes to a world simpler than my own
Down here, the light of the sun isn't so harsh, everything is soft
Muffled echoes of laughter break through the surface and I come back up
I wonder would anyone notice if I disappeared
Summer sun is moody and false, it paints over the cracks to hold the shambles of life together til the cold arrives
And then we break apart again
